WeChat is an instant messaging application that lets users send text and voice messages to anyone. To make usage more convenient for its members, the app’s developer created a new way to access your WeChat messages with WeChat for Web. This web app allows users to access their WeChat account and all its messages in their web browsers. With this, not only you can see all your chats on a bigger screen, but you will also have access to a physical keyboard which makes typing texts much easier.

With WeChat for Web, you can view your messages and chat with your friends using your computers. The app is very easy to use. However, just like WhatsApp's web version, WeChat for Web still uses your phone to access your account.

You still need to open your WeChat app on your phone and use it to scan the QR code displayed in your web browser. This is the only way for you to login on the web app. To scan, you only need to tap the + sign on the top right corner of your WeChat phone app and select the Scan QR Code option from the drop-down menu. Upon successful scanning, you need to tap the Ok button from your phone to start loading your account in the web app. You can then start to chat using your WeChat for Web app.

However, you must leave your WeChat app open on your phone while you use the web application. WeChat app is a mobile app, and other data are actually stored in your phone, rather than the web app server. Suffice to say, when you log in with WeChat for Web your phone will act as the server and routed to your computer. It also means that your phone does not only have to be on, but it also needs an active internet connection.

WeChat for Web is a web version of the mobile app. Once connected, you can access all the messages you have on your phone and continue chatting with any of your contacts. The web app looks a lot like the mobile app, but with a wider screen. Having such makes it easier for you to view your contact lists and messages. With this, you can have a backup of all your conversation history. Not only that, but it also makes it much easier for you to send files from your computer to your contacts.

WebChat for Web offers a convenient option for users who wish to continue chatting while working on their computer. Through this version, you don’t need to have to pick up your phone every time you get a message. The app has got all the core functionalities of its mobile counterpart, so you don’t have to spend time to familiarize yourself to a new setup. However, it does not really save you from using your phone and mobile data since it still needs the mobile app to log in and to function as a server.
